I was looking around this morning for a tree shot. Maybe I just wasn’t in the mood, or I guess I just don’t have that many different shots of trees because it was rather challenging. Then I remembered taking this shot while I was down in Texas almost two years ago now.

I had never been down to the hill country of Texas before this trip. I had read plenty of articles on what to expect and had created waypoints for the best locations. I was looking forward to photographing the “bluebells” of Texas. I put that in quotes since I was surprised to find out that they aren’t what I consider bluebells, but lupines! Oh well, I have nothing against lupines and think they are beautiful in bloom. My timing was a little off and the flowers weren’t at peak when I arrived. I did manage to get a few shots though that week. I traveled the back roads everyday in search of the perfect shots. This tree was one that I drove by almost every day. The light was never right until almost my last day there and I was able to get this shot fairly early in the morning before things got too harsh.
