I spent some time in one of my favorite Colorado locations this fall and came away with some great images. I was a little worried that I was going to miss out on the best color since my folks were visiting and I needed to wait until they left. I headed out the door the next day and made my way over Cottonwood Pass to Crested Butte.

The colors were just at peak to a little past on the east side of Kebler Pass Road, but as usual, the aspens still had quite a bit of green on the west side of the massive grove that you drive for miles through. I checked out all the options and still liked the mixture of colors in the valley in front of East Beckwith Mountain and West Beckwith Peak so I headed out there for sunset.  There was a large bank of clouds that hung around late in the day. That’s something rather unusual for this location (believe me, I have been there many times)! They started to break up as the light began to fade and was blessed with this gorgeous display with the sun skimming across the peaks and the valley filled with multicolored aspens below.
