It’s time to get back to the waterfalls today. I look back now at my images from this day and can’t believe I was able to shoot six waterfalls in one day. And in good light at that! Of course it helps that a couple of them were right off the highway and were less than a couple hundred feet from the parking area…

Such was the case with Clearwater Falls. They aren’t anything super impressive, but yet have a certain beauty that shines through all the chaos of its surroundings. The falls cascade a little over 30 feet through an astounding mass of mossy rocks and fallen logs. Sprinkle in a few new growth trees here and there and you wonder how the Clearwater River can manage to find a path downstream. Obviously with lines going everywhere throughout the scene, trying to come up with a pleasing composition was a challenge. I fiddled around and kept moving my tripod a couple of inches at a time and finally came up with one that seems to capture the essence of the setting and still bring focus on the falls.
