I made a quick stop at Grand Teton National Park on my way back from Montana this fall. I arrived too late for sunset the first night, so I only had one full day and the following morning to squeeze in some shooting. I had been to the area only once a few years earlier, but pretty much had an idea where I wanted to be for sunrise.

Luck was definitely on my side the second morning. A major storm front was moving in filling the skies over the Teton Range with clouds. I got to the parking area at the ever popular Oxbow Bend well before sunrise and grabbed my gear and headed down to the water’s edge. I made my way around other photographers already setup in the dim light. There weren’t as many as I remember being there my first visit, but still plenty. It took getting permission from a friendly fellow for me to get setup where I wanted to be. It was a prefect morning. The water was calm making for a nice reflection. The clouds glowed as the sun rose. The only thing that could have been better was to have the trees in peak fall color. But I’m not complaining. I shot for almost an hour. The skies kept changing making for some gorgeous shots. I had a hard time picking just one from the morning to post!
