The weather had been on my side for weeks with almost “perfect” waterfall shooting conditions of cloudy skies and rain showers. I spent quite a bit of time this morning shooting Lemolo Falls in a steady rain and it wasn’t until after noon that I made it to Warm Springs Falls nearby. The sun began to poke through the clouds as I hiked the short distance to the overlook and checked out the limited locations to shoot from. I precariously setup my tripod on the edge of the cliff to get as few protruding tree branches in the shot as possible and waited for clouds to block the sun. It seemed like eternity for me to capture a shot worthy of keeping, but I realized later that I only shot for about ten minutes!

This was another of the falls that I shot on my trip that took its toll on my gear. When I grabbed my stuff and headed to the falls, I still had a ball cap and gloves on from shooting in the rain earlier. I also had my sunglasses on since it was getting rather bright. I know, you can see it coming. I had flipped the hat around with my sunglasses on top while shooting. After getting the shot I wanted and while still hanging on the edge of the cliff, I flipped the cap up only to watch in slow motion as my sunglasses fell out of sight to the bottom of the gorge below. These were the pair that I had just gotten to replace the ones lost the week before! It seemed only fitting that on the hike out, that I lost the cap and my gloves as well…
