In celebration of finally getting some measurable snow here in our valley, I pulled out this image from years ago above Buena Vista. I got up this morning to about five or six inches of fresh snow and a light snow has continued up until now. This year has been terribly dry and Colorado is really in need of some moisture. So let’s hope it keeps this up through spring!

Snow wasn’t a problem the year that I took this image. We had seven major snowstorms in Colorado that year from November into January. I am really surprised that I was able to drive up to this spot on the west side of town. I remember the county road wasn’t bad down lower when I got off the highway, but the higher I climbed the deeper the snow got. I was pretty much travelling in snowmobile tracks by the time I got close to this spot. I parked my Jeep, strapped on the snowshoes, and took off with my gear to find a composition that captured the essence of the morning. Cold, crisp, pure silence. Nothing like winter in the Rockies!
